How to Produce Fridge Magnets
The first step in producing fridge magnets is a creative design process. At this stage, the purpose of the visual is determined—whether it's for promotion, personal memorabilia, decorative use, or corporate branding. Designers typically create high-resolution graphics in a digital environment. These designs may include company logos, contact details, themed illustrations, or personalized photos. Once prepared, the visual is resized and made print-ready. The clarity and color consistency of the design are crucial to ensuring the magnet’s quality.
Printing and Lamination Stage
After finalizing the design, the image is printed onto the front surface of the magnet. Glossy paper or PVC surfaces are commonly used for printing. UV or digital printing methods are preferred to maintain vibrant colors and ensure durability. A protective lamination layer is then applied over the printed surface. This layer prevents the magnet from fading, scratching, or being damaged by moisture over time. Additionally, it adds a glossy finish and improves overall durability.
Preparing the Magnet Material
The backside of the magnet is typically made of flexible, PVC-based magnetic material. This sheet is supplied in rolls and is prepared for cutting to match the printed surface. The magnetic layer is usually between 0.3 mm and 1 mm thick. Thicker sheets offer stronger magnetic hold and greater durability. Before cutting, the magnet is bonded with the printed surface using adhesive systems or heat lamination. This creates a product with a printed top and magnetic back, ready for final shaping.
Cutting and Final Shaping
The combined and printed materials are sent to cutting machines for shaping. For standard square or rectangular magnets, this process is relatively simple. However, for custom (die-cut) shapes, special molds are used to produce heart, round, star, or other unique designs. The smoothness of the edges is important to ensure both aesthetic appeal and safe handling. After cutting, all products go through a quality control check. Only flawless items are packed and sent out for distribution.
